WIP Wednesday

I'm focused this week on trying to finish my mother's birthday gift. Last week when I was recovering from tendonitis, I dug up the Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks that she started almost 20 years ago. Since they were a little wonky, I was hesitant to try to piece a garden path through the flowers.

Inspiration struck and I realized I could machine applique them to a large piece of muslin I had. I've finished 13 flowers and there are 12 to go. Then I'll need to think about borders and quilting. Luckily, my mother doesn't often drop by unexpectedly, but I've started locking my front door during the day, just in case!

It's kind of funny that I'm doing this. These are the prints from the 90s that I just purged from my stash! Some of them aren't all that bad, but a few are just horrible.

Everything else is on hold for the next week while I finish this up. You can see my WIP list by clicking on the tab up top.

Now, off you go!

So cool and what a great idea to applique them on. I would love to do one of these one day. They always make me think of my Great-Grandma. She had one on her bed for as long as I can remember.
