AMB Blog Hop Winners

The winner of a fat quarter pack of American Made Brand solids is Arianna, originally from Pennsylvania, now living in Virginia.

The winner of prize pack 2 (charm squares, chocolate and lapel pin) is Chiska of Wyoming.

It took me 4 tries to choose 2 winner who I was able to contact. One was a Google+ commenter whose email address was not visible (Debbie Weishaar from Louisiana). And another was a noreply comment (emmy in FL who used to live in CT and used to camp in RI). Ladies, if you email me at tinastitches (at) gmail (dot) com, I will send you a lapel pin.

Orange Giveaway Winner and Fire Update

Random number generator did his thing.

The winner of the orange giveaway is Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows. Many thanks to all of you who visited and entered the giveaway!

In family news, Pete sent me this pic just before he was evacuated from Camp Pendleton yesterday. This is the Talega/San Mateo fire creeping toward his barracks. He was not happy to spend the night back in boot camp (Recruit Depot San Diego), but he is safe.

An Orange Giveaway

If you've visited my blog before or know me in real life, you probably know I'm a fan of the color orange. For Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day, I decided to give away some of my favorite handmade things. Orange, of course!

The prize pack includes a mini paper pieced lapel pin, an orange key fob, and a string pieced mug mat (8x11"). The Sun Star plant is not included, but isn't it pretty?

I've been making these tiny pins for almost 20 years. Pin it to your lapel, tote bag or bulletin board.

To enter, tell me your favorite color. Be sure I can contact you if you win, or I'll need to select someone else. FYI, I've been having trouble reaching some google+ commenters, so please check your profile to make sure your email address is accessible. I'll be picking a winner on Saturday morning, May 17.

Visit Sew Mama Sew to see all the amazing offerings. There are two pages of links- one for supplies and one for handmade. What fun!

Have a sunny, orange day!

Edit 5/17/14: Giveaway is now closed and the winner is Jacquline in Pitt Meadows.

Winners!

The winner of my 505 giveaway is comment #6, Vicki!

I'll be sending these goodies out to her soon.

I haven't been around much this past week because of this guy. Pete's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was yesterday and there was a lot of prep work to do. It was a wonderful ceremony and he was so happy. He says he doesn't like to be the center of attention, but he definitely enjoyed himself.

On to the next mountain to climb...

WIP Wednesday

As I wrapped up the Sew Every Day in July Challenge last week, I have two quilty finishes to report!

Star Crazy (Plan B) was gifted to a lovely couple on Friday night.

On Saturday, I used the leftover blocks and pieces to make Happy Stars for myself. I was thrilled that Aurifil and Alex Veronelli posted this little quilt on Facebook!

And a finish in a different medium... Yesterday I created a slideshow for Pete's Eagle Scout ceremony. My favorite photo from his scouting career is from the night of the Pinewood Derby district finals. In 2004, Pete's car won the pack race and advanced to the district race. Since it was a red car, we all dressed in red as his pit crew!

I'm having a giveaway! It's open until Monday, so do hop over and enter.

Then be sure to visit all the wonderful WIP Wednesday inspiration.

Five -o- Five

It is time for a giveaway! I like round numbers, so I was excited to see my 300th blog follower recently. (Hi, Pat B!) As I type this, there are 303 on blogger and 202 on Bloglovin' for a total of 505 followers. I know there are duplicates in there, but the numbers make me happy!

I'm giving away this gathered clutch and felted wool crochet flower to one lucky reader. Just leave a comment and say hi! (If you think your email address won't show up for me, leave it in the comment so I can reach you.)

The clutch was made from Noodlehead's pattern. I love these little bags and use a bunch of them every day. They are great for corralling small things in a giant purse or tote. The flower is just for fun. It has a pin back, so you can use it anywhere.

I'll choose a random winner on Monday morning, August 12. Good luck!

Now if I could only figure out how to number my comments, I'd be in business. I've tried a couple of tutorials without luck. If you found one that worked for you, please share. Thanks!

Giveaway Winner

I'm happy to announce that Cecilia has won the little giveaway!
Many thanks to my friend, Karen, for the bloggy love
And Welcome to my new followers!

I had a fantastic weekend at the quilt retreat! This workstation was my home for 48 short hours.

My friend, Chris Bagley, taught a spider web workshop on Saturday. I so admire her color sense and ability to use a vast array of fabrics to create the most amazing quilts.

I finally dug into my stash of selvedges for my spider webs.

The staff at Alton Jones takes such good care of us and the food this year was especially delicious.

I'll be back later (after taking care of some Girl Scout cookie business) with more pics of show & tell and workshop projects. Wait until you see the variety of fabric choices!

Wishing you all a happy, quilt-filled weekend!

Birthday Winner

 And the winner is...

How cool is it that Sarah won on her birthday and the giveaway post was on my birthday?!   I hope she gets the luggage, too.  She will need it for her upcoming adventure- teaching English in Asia!  Best wishes to you, Sarah!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!  I had a lovely day.
Bill brought home a dozen of these beautiful roses.

I've been quiet on the blog this week, but there has been some crafting going on.
I totally enjoyed crocheting this wreath from this Goodknits tutorial!  I'm not completely happy with the bow.  It looks a little 90's to me.  It's just pinned into the styrofoam, so I can easily change it out.

I bought a cheap green wreath at the grocery store and embellished it with a variety of greens from my yard. Again, not happy with my bow.  It is too white.  I found a spool of silver ribbon in the stash, so I might switch it.

I learned this technique from Martha years ago.  I make little bundles of the various greens, then wire them to the base wreath.  We cut down our white pine last spring, so I had to get some from Girl Scout camp last weekend!  The branch was already down, so it was OK.

More greens on the front porch...

and on the back deck.

I love this gold bow!

My big birthday gift was new living room furniture.  I need to help Bill dispose of the old sofa that was literally falling apart.  We're off to the dump!

My Birthday Giveaway

It's my birthday, so let's party!  How nice of Sew Mama Sew to host a giveaway party on my birthday!

To celebrate, I have some handmade-by-me gifts for one lucky reader.

A Christmas print keychain lanyard,
a cute patchwork pincushion,
a crocheted felted wool flower pin,
and a paper-pieced Christmas tree pin.

Even though our silly Rhode Island governor is calling this a "holiday" tree, it is most definitely a Christmas tree!

The felted flowers look so cute on a wool coat or hat.

To enter, leave me a comment telling us one thing on your Christmas or Birthday Wish List.

All the giveaways close on Friday, so I'll pick a winner soon thereafter.  Make sure I can reach you if you win, or I'll have to pick someone else, and that would be sad for you.

Be sure to click on over to Sew Mama Sew and enter lots of giveaways!  They are conveniently sorted by category. Totally awesome!

I won!

I won some great stuff from Pat Sloan!

Pat encourages her fans to Finish It Up!  Periodically, she chooses a random photo from her Bust Your UFOs  Flickr group.  I won the Oct/Noc drawing with Timeless Garden!  Here's the link to Pat's newsletter with a photo of my quilt.  Thanks, Pat!

In other news...
Julia received her first two college acceptance letters!   Siena College and Franciscan University.  Yes, she's wearing a poodle skirt.  It was "Decades Day" at school.

And the winner is...

Anonymous!
Thankfully, she left her email address.
(In case you need to know, since Helen (Archie the Wonder Dog) asked to be kept out of the drawing, I didn't count her comment, making anonymous #8.)

 In other news...
Julia and her friends went to the Homecoming dance together this weekend.  A mother couldn't ask for a nicer group of friends for her daughter!

It's going to be a crazy-busy week here!  Hope you all have a good one!

WIP Wednesday and a Giveaway

I'm so excited that the piecing is done on the Wedding Ring Star!
Next, I'll need to start on the applique border. Woo hoo!

To thank you all for being so encouraging, I have a quick little giveaway for you. Julia and I were in Michael's last weekend and she spotted this cute Fandango Organizer!

We both agreed that I would never use it. (I'm not that organized!)

Just leave a comment telling us what you are thankful for and I'll pick a winner on Sunday, 11/20. (Make sure I can reach you if you win! Check out Karen's blog buddy post or include your email in the comment.)

Now off you go to see the other WIPs!
