Random Blocks

Last week, I printed out one of these cute project lists by From Pixels to Patchwork and started filling it in. I was shocked to see eighteen (18!) projects on the list. With some free time this weekend, I got to work crossing things off the list.

First up: Jill's blocks for the April Modern Stash Bee. I hope they aren't too bright.

I'm coordinating a nine-patch swap with my traditional guild starting in May. I finished my stack of 16 blocks this morning.

This little string block will be part of a secret project that I will reveal in June.

Three down, fifteen to go!

Block Party

I had my own little block party!

I made these 4 little (6.5") string blocks for the new Mini Scrap Basket Block Swap. I'm hoping this swap will replace the void left by the closing of the Teeny Weeny Paper Piecing Bee. The tutorial for this block is from Film in the Fridge. These blocks were a blast to make, but boy, did I make a mess of my scraps! I can't wait to dive in again.

The Block Lotto block for November is Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trip Around the World. These were fun and quick, too, but Julia described them as hideous. Her word, not mine! Granted, they are not my favorite fabrics to work with anymore, but I did get to use up some strips that were already cut and waiting in their 2.5" strip bin.

I also completed the Paper Panache Mystery block, which I can't show you until Linda reveals the mystery. Here's a tiny peek!

I'm off to work on block 2 of the Blogger's Bom.

Block Party!

We had a block Party weekend!
Doesn't Julia look like she's partying?

Julia finished her block for the Girl Scout troop quilt. I don't know if it has a name. She drew out the design on graph paper.

Maia came over on her day off between Counselor-In-Training sessions to finish her paper-pieced block. It looks like a Carol Doak pattern, but I didn't write down her source. (There were books everywhere during the design meeting!)

I was able to finish a couple of blocks for the 4X5 bee, but I'm not completely happy with them. And I tore apart or re-made entire sections of both of them at least once.

Too pastel? It would make a great baby girl quilt.

And this teeny weeny block came in the mail from Fran. Thank you!!

This swallowtail was pigging out on the butterfly bush. Julia and Pete both went out with the new camera. Julia got the best shot, below.
