WIP Wednesday

I finished this mini for Julia a couple of weeks ago but couldn't post about it until she saw it. You can read more about its story in that post. 

There was a lot of random progress this week. Today I made a noodlehead gathered pouch (without the gathers) for our retiring church organist. She'll love the cat fabric!

I started making hourglass blocks for setting my Farmer's Wife blocks. Only 100 more to go! (Sorry- this is a really bad picture, but you get the idea.)

And I did the prep work for a retreat project. I can't wait to get away, if only for the weekend!

 A couple of weeks ago, I broke a metal tape measure.  I didn't feel too bad about it, though, because I knew just what I'd do with it!

I needed a pouch to hold coupons in my purse.  Using this tutorial, I measured my stack of coupons and adjusted the sizes as needed.  It went together fairly quickly and easily.  I didn't need to box the corners. 

Before I cut the scooter print, I could have straightened out the pattern a little, I suppose.  Oh, well.  Now I have a cute pouch for coupons that reminds me of the Italy!  Win!

Pretty Little Pouch- Take 1

I finished a little pouch for the swap, but it is a little too small to meet my partner's requests. Missed it by *that* much!


I'm excited about the details, like the zippered pocket on the front. I added all my favorite things- tiny hexies, a Dresden, string piecing, and Meadowsweet.

Pouch in Progress

Yup. It's bag week! Today, I'm working on a piece for the Pretty Little Pouch swap. I can't get enough of these Meadowsweet scraps, but they won't last forever. I'm going to try adding a small zippered pocket on the front left and then the main, bigger pocket will be zippered, too.


The little hexie flower will be on the front and the partial Dresden will end up on the back. I'm still moving other fabrics around and trying to figure out how to set the zippers. I think the fabric is perfect for Spring. I hope my partner likes it!

A case, a pouch and some charms

I received my needle case from my swap partner and it is lovely! The talented Sylvia hand painted a gorgeous rose that she embelished with thread. I will use it for all my portable sewing projects. Thank you, Sylvia!

I'm not afraid of zippers anymore! I used Noodlehead's gathered clutch tutorial, with some added advice from the Flickr swap discussion boards. I will be testing out various zippered bag patterns to show my nephew's fiancee. She asked me to make cosmetics bags for her bridesmaids, so please let me know if you have a favorite small bag pattern.


Pat Sloan started a quilt along today called Lucky Charms. You can find it on her website and on the Old Red Barn Quilt Along Flickr group. Jackie gave me this charm pack the last time we got together and it will be perfect for this little project.


It's going to be a beautiful weekend here, so we'll be at the beach!
