Welcome to My Mess

I have deadlines quickly approaching. I went looking for the Ninnie Nines quilt top that needs to be quilted, like now. There it is in the basket under the sideboard, tucked behind the design wall. OK, the backing fabric is there, along with some solid white (that I thought was lost), and backings for three other tops. Why is that paper bag of batik scraps under there?

I haven't found my bowl full of basting safety pins yet. Not in this pile on the piano bench.

Not in this pile of crap on and under the table behind the loveseat.

Not in this jumble of mess on the dining room table.

Which means it's down here somewhere. Yikes!
(Why is that football toy box in the middle of my stuff?)

Keeping it real, folks!

Added 2:20pm: Found the pins!  Remember that bag of batik scraps under the sideboard? Under the scraps, I found the bowl of pins, machine quilting gloves, and all sorts of goodies. Yay!

Yummy Fabric!

Look what I got in the mail!

I've been lusting after Meadowsweet for months. I'm not sure what to do with it, but it makes me sooooo happy!

This stack (and another one just like it) arrived from Jackie for a very special purpose.
Don't they give you hope that spring and summer are coming?

And that SWEET Jackie sent me these Moda Sweet Rolls. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that these are my first moda bake shop fabrics. They are yummy!

I wish I had time this week to play with my new fabric. Alas, February is almost over and I have deadlines to meet. Most (all) are self-imposed, so I can release myself from the obligation at any time. Here's my list for the next 7 days:
  • Start and finish piecing my MQX Charity Challenge piece (photo due March 1)
  • Star Crazy- piece February blocks
  • Year 2000 Scrapbook
  • UFO Challenge- quilt & bind Easy Weave
It's actually a nice assortment of tasks, so if I get tired of quilting, I can piece. Or work on a few scrapbook pages. Or re-count the Girl Scout cookies in my garage!

Quilt Show Entries

It's that time of year (actually every other year) to prepare our quilt show entries. Our guild (Ninigret Quilters) does not have a juried show, so there's no pressure. I decided to show you what we're entering so I can look back at this post in October to remember which quilts to bring. Of course, the forms are due tonight, so we're scrambling to fill them out and print pictures.

Julia will be showing the lap quilt she made for Josh last Christmas and one of the Quilts of Valor she's making for her Silver Award. Lots of red, white and blue!
Josh's quilt is long and skinny and fits him well. Julia included some Red Sox fabric and she did some nice free motion machine quilting.

The QOV includes blocks made and contributed by guild members and Josh's grandmother. Other Ninnies have made whole tops and completed quilts in response to Julia's challenge.

My entries will be The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (see banner)...

a Mini Overlay from the pattern Easy Overlay by Linda Warren...

Wildflowers, which was made from Bonnie Hunter's Weed whacker pattern (not quilted yet!)...

Geese in the Forest from the twiddletails block of the month (not finished piecing yet!)...

and some Artist Trading Cards - I'll be organizing this display since I issued the monthly challenge and SWAP.

I considered entering my framed appliqued Goldfinch, but I'm not sure how or where it could be displayed safely.

So now you know what Julia and I will be doing when we get home from Savannah.
I do love a deadline!
