Blogger's Quilt Festival - Nonna's Garden

My entry for the Festival this Fall is my favorite quilt of the year: Nonna's Garden.

The whole quilt is only 12" on a side, or 24" widest point to point.

The 547 English paper pieced hexagons are 1/2" per side.

I was really proud of it even before it earned my first blue ribbon! A first place for Best Piecing at my local guild show, Ninigret Quilters.

Thanks so much to Amy for hosting this Festival for those of us who can't make it to Houston!

  1. I love how you quilted this! I would never have thought to quilt petals over the top. Hmmm...
I had a similar bleeding issue on a similar quilt. I eventually took the bad out and replaced them with fresh. You now can't tell there was ever an issue, what with the way hexs go together and all. Hopefully you can live with it! It is beautiful!!

  6. Oh my goodness! You are a fiend! LOL. But I do mean that in a nice way. I am astounded at the teensy-ness of those hexies. You deserve the ribbon you were awarded. Congratulations! And thank you for sharing.

  9. Oh how pretty! I love this style of quilts but the English paper piecing has always intimidated me. This is so pretty and well deserving of that blue ribbon. Great job!!

  10. This is absolutely beautiful! I love, love, love hexies. Wish I had the patience to try, but I think I would go cross-eyed working with pieces so small. No blue ribbons in my future! :)

  13. I have made lots of hexagon quilts but never tried paper piecing. It seems like a lot of extra steps but your result is lovely.
