Design Wall Monday

One of my goals for 2011 is to quilt more, so I hope to have something on my design wall every Monday. I use a small portable design wall, made from foam core covered with flannel.

This is will be a New Wave quilt made from Sugar Snap by Melissa Averinos. I'm using a light gray solid in between. There are 4 completed rows on the dining room table!

I had hoped to complete this top on Sunday, but we had a basketball game to go to. Our kids' high school band got to sit in with the University of Rhode Island pep band!
If you look closely, Pete is in the green hat sitting at the drum set to the left of the sousaphones.

It was impossible to get a photo of tiny Julia in the middle of a sea of trumpets.
Unfortunately, Rhody lost the game, but we had a great time!

  1. That is a great fabric for that design. It looks like they were "made for each other".

  2. Love the fabric. This is what I mean by I love modern fabrics, but I never buy them! We usually go to the URI games, but didn't go to that one. What a great idea for the kids to play with the URI band. I keep forgeting to tell you I would love to go to your retreat, so sign me up if there are any spaces left. I'll get the check out to you this week. I also wanted to ask you what classes you signed up for at the quilt show and are you volunteering again? I'm behind in signing up for everything!

  3. Hello Tina,

Your friend from sewmanyways pointed me in your direction. Love your quilts. I am still working on my sense of colour. I love other peoples quilts, I don't want to copy them but have not yet found my own palette. If you link off my site to my flickr you will see there is quite a range of styles there
