Road Trip

The Ninigret Quilters hopped on a bus yesterday for the 3 hour drive to New Hampshire for A Quilters' Gathering. I had never been to this show before, so I ignored my loathing for bus rides and joined in the fun!

With a half-quilted quilt at home, I was on the hunt for filler quilting inspiration. This amazing modern quilt by Rose Orr knocked my Red Sox off!

There was a lot more appliqué in this show than we're used to seeing, with lots of cool filler quilting around it.

This anniversary quilt by Carol Smith glows!

And then there's the haul from the fantastic vendors!
V and Co. yummies,

some necessary tools, including a Sharon Schamber Quilt Halo,

aqua for Julia, plum and mustard for the mini swap, and I could no longer resist a bit of The Boo Crew.

On the way home, we stopped at the Quilted Crow, a really lovely shop.

It was a wonderful, inspiring day!

Looks like you had a great time…such beautiful quilts. I love the fabric you bought too. I'm sure you were suckered in by a demonstration or two. That is our M.O. at quilt shows. Maybe I can join you on the next bus trip!!

I never go up without stopping at the quilted crow, lol.
I have seen that halo and thought about getting one, let me know how you like it. I also use the chaco pen, love how I can roll the designs on and just quilt as I go. Sounds like a fun trip.

Love the photos! Especially the filler quilting - unbelievable! You will LOVE Sharon's quilting halo - used that to machine quilt my Red Aunt Millie's Garden - work like a charm! Happy Stitching! :)

Oh what fun!!! There is a shop about 25 minutes from my house that is also called the Quilted Crow. Can't wait to see what beautiful things come from your new finds!

Thanks for sharing the lovely quilts. What exactly does the Halo do, and let us know how well it works. (Inquiring minds want to know.)

Went up on Saturday as well. The quilts were lovely and inspirational. Did you see the Best of Show? My goodness what beautiful work. Like Janet I too use the halo. Took a class from Sharon Schamber at a previous Gathering. In fact I use two , one stacked on top of the other. Definitely helps the stress in my hands when I machine quilt.
